Stock Market News: Dow Set to Open Down

Stock futures were falling early Monday after two major indexes finished last week at record highs.

There will be a lot of news to influence traders this week. Fresh inflation data are due Thursday, while Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell will speak to Congress Tuesday and Wednesday. Investors will be looking for signs of weaker growth and inflation that would allow the Fed to cut interest rates later this year.

On top of that, companies kick off second-quarter earnings season. Delta Air Lines and PepsiCo report this week, as do a handful of big banks including Citigroup and JPMorgan Chase.
