KABUL (Pajhwok): The acting minister of commerce and industry has asked Uzbekistan to invest in Afghanistan’s oil, gas and copper sectors.
Nooruddin Azizi met his Uzbek counterpart Bobir Farkhadovich Islamov in Tashkent, MoCI said in a statement on X.
According to the statement, Azizi asked his counterpart to encourage investments by Uzbek businesspeople in oil and gas mines in northern Afghanistan.
He also urged investment by the neighboring country in copper mines in Ghazni and Herat provinces and to establish mineral processing facilities in Afghanistan.
For his part, Islamov hinted at investments in Afghanistan and informed of the establishment of two large copper-processing factories in the field of in Uzbekistan.
According to him, these two factories will certainly require raw materials, which will be met by copper from Afghanistan.
At the meeting, it was decided that a delegation from Uzbekistan would travel to Afghanistan to carry our a survey and technical work in coordination with the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum.
