Tim Cook‘s Apple AAPL announced the first major update to visionOS at the WWDC 2024, bringing some important usability improvements to Apple Vision Pro users.

Among these changes are memories, immersive experiences, and productivity improvements.

Apple also revealed that there are over 2,000 apps specifically created for Vision Pro. However, users can also tap into over 1.5 million iPhone and iPad apps that are compatible with Apple Vision Pro as well.

However, the major changes are centered around things like photos and videos, apart from productivity improvements allowing you to work seamlessly while commuting as well.

As for photos and videos, Apple announced SharePlay which allows users to share media with their friends easily.

Lastly, Apple is also expanding the availability of Vision Pro outside the U.S. Markets. The $3,499 mixed-reality headset will be available for purchase in several countries starting from June 28th. Here’s the list.

  • China
  • Japan
  • Singapore
  • Australia
  • Canada
  • France
  • Germany
  • United Kingdom

Despite the lack of official sales figures from Apple, the market buzz around the Vision Pro has significantly reduced, and the company reportedly cut production due to low demand. The headset’s value in the secondhand market also appears to be declining, with lightly used base models being sold for $1,000 off or more on eBay.

By expanding its availability, Apple is likely hoping to tap into a new pool of potential customers and revive interest in the Vision Pro.
