Asian Stocks Fall, Wall Street Takes a Break — and What Else Is Happening in the Stock Market Today

Stocks in Asia fell Friday in muted trading after China unexpectedly left a key interest rate unchanged. U.S. and European markets were closed for Easter holidays.

The Shanghai Composite declined 0.45% and Japan’s Nikkei 225 dropped 0.3% after the the People’s Bank of China left the rate on its one-year medium-term loan unchanged at 2.85%. China’s central bank was expected to cut rates to support an economy that has been hit hard by a resurgence of Covid-19.
